Volunteer Opportunities
Join us by volunteering to help staff fulfill the mission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan to empower and inspire people living with epilepsy. We have several volunteer opportunities to fit almost any interest.

Administrative
The Foundation needs volunteers to assist with bulk mailings, filing, data entry, follow up phone calls, and other projects at our Southfield office. To volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Application and contact our Office Manager, Pam Bird.

Camp Discovery
Volunteer Camp Counselors and Health care Providers are needed for 5 days and 4 nights at Camp Discovery located at Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center in Augusta, MI. For more information or to become involved with Camp Discovery, please request a Camp Volunteer Application and contact Pamela Bird.

Receptionist
The Foundation needs someone to help answer our main line and transfer calls during regular business hours. If interested in this opportunity, please complete the Volunteer Application and contact our Office Manager, Pam Bird.

Special Events
Volunteers are needed to help with the preparation and execution of special events. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting with large mailings, creating decorations, event set-up, hospitality, event clean-up, and volunteer coordination.   • Summer Stroll for Epilepsy™

    • Event Organizer
      Event Organizer is a group of people appointed or chosen to perform a function on behalf of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The Event Organizer will work closely with the Special Events Manager.

      Community Outreach volunteer is a volunteer appointed or chosen to perform a function on behalf of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The volunteer will work closely with the Event Organizer and Special Events Manager.

    • Team Captain
      Team Captain is a volunteer who leads a group of participants to raise vital funds for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan as well as spreading awareness in the community.

    • Event Day
      Event Day volunteer is a volunteer that performs various duties on the day of the Summer Stroll for Epilepsy™. The volunteer will work closely with other volunteers and Special Events Manager.

Speakers Bureau
We need volunteers to speak to civic groups, local businesses, and the general public to tell their personal story about epilepsy. For more information, please complete the Volunteer Application and contact Pamela Bird.

"Spread the Word" — Awareness
The Foundation needs volunteers to help "Spread the Word" about epilepsy. Awareness Opportunities include:
  • Epilepsy in Our Own Words (Third party awareness and fundraising events)
  • Share your story
  • Take Foundation information to physicians
  • Take Foundation information to local media outlets

Action Councils
  • Community Action Council
    The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan is recruiting adults, ages 26 and up, for its Community Action Council. Having epilepsy is not a condition of membership; however, applicants MUST be passionate about taking active leadership roles in their communities to further the mission of the Foundation.

  • Young Adult Leadership Council
    The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan is recruiting young adults, ages 18-25, for its Young Adult Leadership Council. Having epilepsy is not a condition of membership; however, applicants MUST be passionate about taking active leadership roles in their communities to further the mission of the Foundation.

  • Teen Action Council
    The Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan is recruiting youth, ages 14-17, for its Teen Action Council. Having epilepsy is not a condition of membership; however, applicants MUST be passionate about taking active leadership roles in their communities to further the mission of the Foundation.
Transportation Services
The Foundation is in need of volunteers to provide transportation services to and from various events or programs. If interested in this opportunity, please complete the Volunteer Application and contact our Office Manager, Pam Bird

Organizational Displays
Volunteers are needed to attend health fairs and other events where our organizational display is requested. This involves setting up and sitting by the display, distributing materials, and answering questions for those who stop by. WEST MICHIGAN POSITIONS

Computer Data Entry Assistant
Duties include entering new consumer records into the EFM database; conducting phone calls to previously recorded consumers to update consumer contact information, history, and current status; and referral of consumer Education and Consultation inquiries to EFM staff. Research Assistant
Conduct inquiries by phone to find relevant information for use in program design, marketing, resources, and public awareness. Please complete the Volunteer Application and contact Pamela Bird.

Distribution Assistant
Duties include delivery of EFM advertising materials to targeted doctors’ offices, schools, colleges and universities, social services agencies, daycare, grocery stores, and other institutions; and faxing of EFM advertising materials to targeted institutions.
