We're pleased to announce that the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan received multiple awards at the 2008 Epilepsy Foundation National Awards Reception and Dinner held recently in Dallas. The Foundation was recognized for the following:
Coelho Cup for Innovation

The Coelho Cup for Innovation acknowledges an innovative affiliate initiative that enhances the Epilepsy Foundation's ability to meet its mission. The goal for this award is to encourage replication of best practices throughout the Foundation's affiliate network. Recipients are awarded the elegant Coelho Cup as well as a $1,000 gift.
We received this prestigious award for our program of quarterly Open Houses to educate the community about the Foundation. |

Public Awareness Award

The Public Awareness Award is given for noteworthy contributions to improving public awareness and the understanding of epilepsy, improving acceptance of persons with epilepsy, and improving visibility of local affiliates and their educational initiatives.
We received this award based on our outstanding publications, including A Call to Action. |

Golden Circle Award
 |
The Golden Circle Award recognizes the outstanding achievements in the field of fundraising for special events and major gift campaigns or a series of events, such as walks. The initiative must net over $100,000.
We received the Golden Circle Award based on our 2008 Summer Stroll for Epilepsy™. |

Volunteer of the Year Award
 |
The Volunteer of the Year award is given to an individual or group of volunteers making outstanding contributions to the epilepsy movement in volunteer time and effort.
Dr. Brien J. Smith was awarded this honor based on his work for the national office and our organization in the area of public policy. Dr. Smith has been a tireless advocate on the Patient Safety Legislation and other issues. |
