Medical Appointment Tips
What you tell and ask your doctor plays a key role in your epilepsy management. The following document provides tips on maximizing the effectiveness of medical appointments:
Tracking Your Seizures
Keeping track of when your seizures occur, and what happens before, during, and after each seizure can help you and your doctor to identify seizure patterns and triggers, assess the effectiveness of treatment, and learn more about the nature of your epilepsy. The following tools can help:
Seizure Observation Record - useful for people who are in the process of being diagnosed with epilepsy, newly diagnosed people, people with epilepsy who have experienced a recent change in seizure type or patterns, and people with infrequent seizures
Seizure Diary - useful for people who experience frequent seizures or people for whom there is little variation from one seizure to the next
These forms can be modified to suit your needs and the needs of your doctor. Talk with your doctor to discuss the amount and type of information you should collect. |
