Event Description
The involvement of the temporal lobes in the memory and mood problems often associated with epilepsy is well established. The functions of the frontal lobes, however, can also be affected by epilepsy. Dr. Christine Trask, a pediatric neuropsychologist at Rhode Island Hospital, will discuss two of these functions: attention and executive function. In addition to reviewing the different components of these cognitive functions, Dr. Trask will discuss epilepsy-related causes, challenges unique to epilepsy, the role of the neuropsychologist, and strategies for managing these cognitive difficulties. The discussion will be from a pediatric perspective, but adults with epilepsy can benefit from the call as well.
